This is a good example of Auto-Sleepers Trooper based on the classic VW Type 4 with 2.4 litre VW 5-cylinder diesel engine. Auto-Sleepers are well know for their build quality and this camper is no exception. The most important thing to know about this camper is that has been well loved, well maintained and well used. The current owners have had her for 7 years and it has had an outstanding service and care history since they have owned her including all servicing as and when required, new cambelt in July of this year, new starter motor in August, new clutch at 63,000 and have carried out any other repairs required. This is the ideal camper for anyone looking to get away and enjoy fabulous breaks in the UK or even abroad once permitted.
This camper is primarily a 2 berth with 2 front seat belts and an additional 2 lap seat belts at the back (four in total). The Trooper was originally a 4 berth but this particular camper does not come with roof boards, so could sleep four if these are sourced.
This Auto-Sleeper is in good condition for its age and features a hard sided pop-top roof that can be simply erected in less than an minute. This runs the length of the camper giving you plenty of headroom whilst standing inside. It has electric hook up (cable included), leisure battery, retro fitted CTEK battery charger and tow bar. Electrics on the tow bar have not been tested. Radio is working but used.
Internally the Auto-Sleeper is in great condition. There is some minor wear and tear, as to be expected of this classic vehicle, but once again really well looked after by the current owners. It is extremely comfortable inside with a rock and roll bed that doubles up as a bench sofa at the rear and with a swivel passenger seat this is a great area to sit down and relax. There is also a small table (not original) that fits conveniently in the living area, ideal for a snack or warming drink.
The Trooper is well equipped with a Electrolux 3-way fridge, Spinflo 2 gas ring hob and grill, sink with Shurflo water pump to cold water tap. Whilst there is no hot water in this camper there is a Propex gas-fired blown air heater to keep you toastie and warm when required. The Auto-Sleepers are notorious for their build quality and this one is no exception. There is plenty of cupboard and storage space, all in original hardwood framed cabinets. The camper also features onboard fresh and waste water tanks making it ideal for wild camping.
The Auto-Sleeper is also extremely comfortable to sleep in. As mentioned it has a simple to operate rock and roll bed that is quick and easy to use. It folds out to a decent size `192cm x 113cm.
In summary this is a wonderful Auto-Sleepers Trooper that is in great condition for its age. It has been wonderfully looked after both mechanically and structurally and has been well loved and used, with constant maintenance and care. It is an ideal camper for driving round the UK, long weekends or even getting away for the day. It is a fabulous camper and definitely worth viewing.
