It’s the V5
2.5 TDi version, making 102BHP, which has the longer nose to accommodate the
engine. It has covered only 39000 miles in it's life and with the larger engine,
is smooth and powerful on journeys returning excellent economy. There has at
some point been a remap of the ECU giving greater power and better economy
which is shown on the extensive service records.
The VW
based Topaz is the only camper in its class to feature a rear located washroom,
shower and toilet, all neatly shoehorned into this small space. And the best
bit is, it’s all very useable and in incredible condition.
The two
front seats swivel to face the rear making a very comfortable and sociable
lounge area. The van has 3 seatbelts, so can whisk the family along in style or
even accommodate a grand child for a weekend away. The central seating area
easily makes into either 2 single beds or a large spacious double by employing the
additional cushions housed in the above cab storage locker.
The van has
the benefit of 2 habitation area tables. One can fit in by the sliding the
access door for use by the two front seats or one can be erected centrally for family
dining.
The kitchen
area is spoilt for lockers to house everything in, with a cutlery draw, slide
out spice rack, overhead cupboards, sink with drainer, 2 ring gas hob and a gas
grill, all of which is in “as new” condition.
The 3 way
fridge can run on gas for wild camping, 240v for on site stays and 12v battery
for journeys where keeping your beer or gin cool is essential.
The rear of
the van houses the exceptionally rare and incredibly useful bathroom area. Cassette
toilet, drop down sink, full size shower, wardrobes, and storage cupboards
abound. It’s incredible how those guys at AutoSleeper managed this black magic
to get so much into a chassis just over 5 metres in length.
There is a water infill cap on the side of the vehicle for the underslung water tank as well as a site hook up flap on the habitation door side..
As if that
wasn’t enough, this beautiful van has a Fiamma wind out awning to give you
shelter from the rain or shade from the sun while you enjoy lazy afternoons on
your camping chairs listening to relaxing music and drinking those cold
beverages.
The cockpit
area is like the rest of the van “as new” and has a more modern head unit and
rubber floor mats along with a wireless reverse camera
For a
vehicle which is over 20 years old, it shows very little sign of use. The
bodywork is 99 – 100% mark free, in fact the van is virtually concourse as
supplied in 2002.
This vehicle
can be viewed by appointment now, and is ready to drive away having recently
been serviced and MOT tested (April 24)
